At certain times people have had to rise up in violent protest to fight tyranny and often brutal oppression for their freedom, or at least die trying. I believe that peace and understanding is what an oppresed people should strive for until their oppressors wont allow them to even strive for that. If a person is trying to destroy you, destroy them first. If a regime is intent on destroying its subjects, its subjects should destroy the regime. I believe that a message of non-violence, however well intended, isnt always the right message. Violence should be avoided until it can no longer be. Therefore I condone the actions of the people in Ferguson, Missouri, the rioting to be more specific. Im with them in spirit as well as the peaceful protesters who have been violently opposed by a militarized city police force. However, the question that Ive posed to myself throughout the day is whether the rioting is a result not of violence, but rather, misguided violence. Let me be clear. Crazy as it might sound, I wholeheartedly believe everything that I just tapped out on the miniscule keyboard on my rad Samsung Galaxy S5. I always have. But, I wonder how a people tearing the infrastructure of their own community to peices helps to advance the cause of justice and liberty. It is not a rhetorical question. I have been trying to reconcile what I truly believe with what is happening right now. Should the violence as a form of protest be aimed at the organization which committed the injustice rather than on the property of home and business owners? One more nugget of wisdom, if you can call it that. If you ever feel as though youve just got to get out there and riot as a form of protest, dont steal. Thats called looting. It makes your cause not a cause at all. It just means that you want free consumer electronics.
