At dinner last night we were talking about this problem: that people in Silicon Valley are increasingly demonstrating a lack of empathy toward other people. I said it is increasingly a problem and one that is being caused, in part, by the extraordinary wealth that many are enjoying. Look at this jerk and the lack of concern he and his wife had toward someone else. The conclusion at dinner is that this lack of empathy is a real problem and one that is already causing business problems. I cant disagree. I have noticed a new aggressiveness by people in the tech industry and I dont know what to do about it other than to focus on myself and be the change I want to see in the world. This story just makes me so sad.
