At first I hesitated to go vegan. I was afraid of being - TopicsExpress

At first I hesitated to go vegan. I was afraid of being descriminated against for belonging to that unpopular subculture; I secretly saw vegans as extremists, much like many others do. I was terribly reluctant to give up my foods, too. And the transition wasnt exactly easy. Meats had long ago lost their appeal, but dairy... my cheese! Something changed, though. All those things I thought I was giving up? They werent mine to give up. Those things were lives, and they belonged to the beings who owned them. That blood and flesh was given up (unwillingly, and with much suffering) by those beings. Those packaged products were stolen flesh, stolen babies, stolen lives, and were never mine to begin with. They were not mine to take, and therefore not mine to relinquish. And instead of giving up all those menu items, I dicovered I could still have any of those items, cruelty free. I gained so many foods Id never heard of. Id resigned myself to a shrunken menu, but instead my menu burst into a million and one complex and healthy foods. Lastly, our health has improved because of our choices. Chris bad cholesterol dropped, his good cholesterol shot up, his blood pressure became perfect. His doctor gave his dietary changes a glowing review and told him to keep it up. And my blood sugar has stabilized after years of struggling with it. My allergies have disappeared. And I can eat what I love without worrying about my appearance suffering. Ive been on this high for a while, and I am sure you guys are rolling your eyes. I just have to say it for anyone whos considering making the leap but is hesitant. Its one of the best decisions of my life. Only wish I hadnt waited so long.
