At first I was skeptical about this sequel. The first Raid movie is easily the best action movie in at least 10 years. It set a new standard while working within a modest budget and concept. The Raid had such an affect on the industry that it started changing fight choreography around the world. Most of the fight scenes in Arrow are heavily influenced if not outright ripped off from The Raid. So how could a sequel live up to that? Well, Im not going to say too much, as to avoid spoilers, but Id put The Raid 2 down as one of the top best sequels in all of movie history. Im putting it next to movies like Empire Strikes Back, Godfather 2 and Aliens. For its genre, its that damn good. I have one or two minor gripes about the editing of the film. Certain characters needed to be introduced earlier and built up more. But in the end its only a minor flaw from an overall classic movie. This is a movie Tarantino WISHES he could make. My main warning to you however is that this is an incredibly violent and bloody movie. So be warned. Also you really should see the first movie. And while youre at it make sure you see Gareth Evans and Iko Uwaiss first collaboration, the 2009 action film Merantau HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
