At last Tuesday night’s McKenzie Special School District Board meeting, a very lengthy discussion was had on the grievance against Director of School Lynn Watkins regarding the complaint that was filed by Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Moore concerning their daughter being dismissed from the cheerleading squad. It was stated by board member Greg Barker that he was not happy that it got to this point and that it could have been handled a different way”. It was stated that Mr. Lynn Watkins addressed the situation by excusing himself from the complaint when his brother, Tim Watkins, Principle of McKenzie High School was brought into the complaint. It was also stated that board members received letters on that the situation was handled but not exactly how, after an inside investigation was completed by “three seasoned professionals of the McKenzie High School with over 20 years of service performed the investigation. Mr. Greg Barker stated that “Mr. Watkins done what he was asked to do by the board according to school policy” Board member Horton stated that “the board has not seen evidence and do not know who was spoken with or what was said”. Near the close of the meeting, the board agreed that Mr. Lynn Watkins did handled the situation by school policy. Brummitt McKenzie Funeral Home is now serving the family of Mrs. Rebecca E. Allen age 74 of Trezevant. A memorial service will be held on Sunday March 9th at 2 pm at the Cedar Avenue Chapel of Brummitt McKenzie Funeral Home. They are also serving the family of Mr. Larry Joe Foster age 59 of McKenzie. A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 8th at 11 am in the Cedar Avenue Chapel of Brummitt McKenzie Funeral Home. Funeral Services for Charles Howard Price 86 Trezevant will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 7, 2014, at Brummitt Funeral Home Trezevant Funeral Services for Lon King 66, Henry will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Cedar Avenue Chapel of Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home Chase Funeral home is now serving the family of Mrs. Imogene Deeter age 91 of Huntingdon. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home.
