At last nights Board of Education meeting, Timothy Young and Alexis Antonio were recognized with the Making Choices for Excellence award. East Aurora High School senior Timothy Young earned a national title in Greco-Roman wrestling. Timothy Young Young was named the Outstanding Wrestler at the FILA Cadet Nationals. After winning six matches in two days, Young defeated a two-time national champion wrestler from Oregon 13-4 to win the championship in the 85-kilogram weight class. Based on his win, Young has been selected as one of three wrestlers who will compete in the FILA Cadet World Championships, which begin July 15 in Snina, Slovakia. Young, 16, will also wrestle in the Youth Olympic Games on Aug. 25-27 in Nanjing, China. He will be practicing at the Olympic Wrestling Center in Colorado this summer. Alexis Antonio In the last week of school, Cowherd Middle School held its annual talent show. Alexis Antonio dazzled the audience by playing his electric violin. Antonio, a soon-to-be freshman at East Aurora High school. He is and honor roll student who is a self-taught violin player. He played Someone Like You at the Board meeting.
