At last night’s Manly Council meeting our President Jacqueline - TopicsExpress

At last night’s Manly Council meeting our President Jacqueline French requested Councillors to acknowledge the landmark judgement from the NSW Land & Environment Court last week and rescind Council’s motion from the September meeting to rezone our harbour foreshore land as residential. The Court declared Numbers 34 and 36 Stuart Street to be community land, and further declared the Council hold no 36 Stuart Street on trust for public purposes. Liberal Councillor Alan Le Surf proposed an alternative motion to defer voting on the rescission motion till the November Council meeting. There was strong opposition from Greens Councillor Cathy Griffin and Independents Barbara Aird, Hugh Burns and Candy Bingham however Councillor Le Surfs motion to defer was supported by Liberal Councillors Steve Pickering, James Griffin, Adele Heasman and Jean Hay and it was passed 5-4. You can all draw your own conclusions - however it would seem the Liberal block Manly Councillors are not listening to the community or the L&E Court!
