At last...part 3 of the blog How To Do Radio is up and running! Im trying to get these out on a Friday but I just couldnt do it yesterday, sorry. And I was at the cinema watching the excellent Penguins of Madagascar film today. So, you know, priorities and all that. Anyway, its up and its a cracker. Producer and presenter Katherine Boyle has tackled the thorny subject of content. How essential is it? When do you jettison it? Should a show be governed by pre-arranged content or should there be a bit of wiggle room? Its a great read and, as always, it aint gospel. Its just our thoughts and feelings. Its not right (it is) or wrong (it isnt) its just opinion. An interesting note - someone I used to work with sent me an email after a previous post and asked why I was having a dig at them. I was really surprised. It hadnt occurred to me that anyone would think that. I called him up immediately and apologised if he felt it came across as that, but there was really no malice or ill thought in the writing. He took the explanation and got it. Honestly, these writings are just our thoughts and our ideas. We hope you get something from them, even if its to strongly disagree. If it makes you think more about your style of radio and either question it or perhaps defend it, then thats great. I guess we just want people to stop being lazy and THINK. Do leave comments on the page. We try and reply to all of them if we can. And you can say nice or nasty things. I say nasty, I mean constructive.
