At least five dead following flare-up in Sittwe (Myanmar Times) Posted by danyawadi on August 11, 2013 in Articles, Local News Link – mmtimes/index.php/national-news/7772-at-least-five-dead-following-flare-up-in-sittwe.html (M-Media Analysis) Some sources state that some residents from Rohingya IDP camp set fire on the police station. But RB News which favors Rohingya describes by citing a local resident that the police torched their own station as a plot of developing a reason on why they shot the mob of Rohingyas. RB News also claims that the police station had been used as a station of Na-Sa-Ka which was recently abolished by government. Irrawaddy News (Burmese) and BBC Burmese describes that the incident was happened as the police had detained a Rohingya Hajee Ismail female corpse found in nearby stream and Rohingyas from IDP camp angrily gathered at the police station for asking the dead body back. Then the police tried to disperse them by firing some shots into the sky. But Irrawaddy News put a different story on their website in English language while mentioning the same incident, they did not base the news on Rohingya female corpse as in Myanmar language. Both BBC and Irrawaddy cited Win Myaing, a spokesman from Rakhine State’s government who said “I heard that three to four people were wounded. No one was killed in the breaking up of the protest,” to Irrawaddy. But Win Myaing had been recently called as “Foolish” by Phil Robertson, deputy director of Human Rights Watch’s Asia division because he keeps saying Rohingya set fire on their own houses during last year bloodshed.
