At my brothers we saw a microcosm of everything that is wrong with most modern family entertainment. PARENTAL GUIDANCE stuck Billy Crystal and Bette Midler (doing there best with weak material) in a revamped take on UNKLE BUCK. While that movie worked because of John Candy, (and a waaaaaaay better script) PG tried to shoehorn a sweet story into a morass of gross outs and caricatures- some so borderline offensive and stereotypical I was getting a headache from rolling my eyes. The rest of the cast included Marisa Tomei, Tom Everett Scott and the youngest girl on Modern Family. They all did their best too but were sabotaged by the modern commercial tripe per-requisites. There was also a young boy with a stutter who was quite good. Sadly all their efforts were marred by the aforementioned stupidities and a cartoonish view of serious problems that defied logic and muted what few clever lines existed. https://youtube/watch?v=mRAe8m5rI4c
