At nine in the morning they nailed him to a cross. They hurled - TopicsExpress

At nine in the morning they nailed him to a cross. They hurled insults at him. Mocked him. While he suffered....for them. From noon until 3 the sky went dark until he breathed his last breath. Mark 15 (paraphrased) I wonder if I was in the crowd back then if I would have joined them in insults and mocking and if I would have forgotten all his miracles and healings and teachings-just like the mob. How easily do I forget even now his miracles- his healings- his teachings. And yet over 2000 years ago Jesus gave up his life for me and the mockers and the insulters of then ... and now. Without him - Im in the deepest pit of trouble. Because of him and because he paid the ultimate price with his life - by his death - Im redeemed - set free- reconciled to my Heavenly Father. My death is not my ending thanks to the grace and gift of forgiveness. There is not one person excluded from this gift. Not one person who cant claim this forgiveness. Every single one of us for over 2000 years and beyond at any point can say - I want a part of that. I want forgiveness from the past - peace for today and glory in the future -for eternity. Today is Good Friday. Its past nine in the morning. My heart is heavy as I pay my respect for this moment. We remember so we never forget. And when the centurion who stood there in front of Jesus, heard his cry and saw how he died, he said, ‘Surely this man was the Son of God!’” Mark 15:39
