At the CCL Conference on June 24, 2013, Dr. Shi-Ling Hsu said, As Ive gone around United States and Canada stumping for a carbon tax, the one question that keeps coming back is, Alright, youve convinced me on the merits, but, you know, I dont see this happening politically. I avidly support CCL and have participated four years, having gone to DC on my own dime to attend three of the four annual conferences, and I have led half of my four dozen lobby meetings. What I am about to say is intended to be constructive, not to disparage my friends and associates. Ive concluded that systematic and overt application of the scientific method needs to be imdertaken with the objective of understanding our audiences in order to adjust our asks appropriately. Watch the video bit.ly/CCL2013 and listen for the statement, I dont have hope ... well, if we dont adjust and adapt our strategy and tactics using intelligence gained from thousands of meetings over five years, we should seriously question why we have blind hope. On August 18, 2007, columnist V. B. Price wrote, Hope does not require optimism. It requires imagination. bit.ly/VBPrice18Aug07 Lets use our imagination to explore a variety of approaches based on objective assessments of the realities in Congress. Quickly, in real time.
