At the National SMME colloquium last night, Gauteng Premier, David - TopicsExpress

At the National SMME colloquium last night, Gauteng Premier, David Makhura said the money circulating in black townships is estimated at R100 billion. Apparently Diepsloot township near Fourways is worth R2 billion. Notably the people of Diepsloot only spend 25% of that money in Diepsloot and the rest in Fourways, Randburg and Sandton and other suburbs. With such spending power we are our own worst enemies. How can we continue with this poverty when taking money to the rich in Sandton, Bryanston and other suburbs? Those people hardly ever spend their moneys in black townships. We owe it to the economic emancipation of black people in South Africa to change those mindsets. Let us work together to develop township businesses and to support them. Let us support Gauteng governments plan to develop sustainable township economies.
