At the beginning of the week on Sept 1st, 1996, New York State was threatened by Hurricanes Edouard, Fran and Tropical Depression 6. On Sat Sept 7th each storm paid us a visit and dropped several inches of rain. During the break between storms we were able to race to the Holiday Inn in Middletown. Unfortunately we were all pulled over by a NYS Trooper. I explained to the nice officer that if I was late to the Holiday inn after surviving these storms, my soon to be wife would kill me. He then offered us an escort. I explained that if a state trooper had to physically escort me inside a facility to get married it may not look too good. He agreed and let us drive on. He radioed ahead so that we wouldnt be stopped again possibly making us late. We jumped out of our vehicles and ran inside the building with almost 15 minutes to spare. Everything Ok? Liz asked, Yep! I replied. About 20 minutes later, that very nice man that I told you about last year asked me that very question that changed my life forever; Do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife! I do! Everyone busts out laughing and my life has not been the same since. One more year later this is still the best decision of my life! Happy 18th anniversary Honey, I still love you!
