At the end of Gods Not Dead, viewers are encouraged to send a text message to everyone in their contact list proclaiming Gods Not Dead. You can do this, if you think it will spread the love and message of Christ to your friends and family. If, however, you live in a more nuanced reality, one where actions and conversations and relationships with real people take time and patience to grow, maybe youll pray for them instead. Maybe youll send a text to just one person saying Im thinking of you, let me know if you ever need anything. UNPOPULAR OPINION TIME: Im pretty reluctant to see this movie, and this review confirms why. Sorry to be negative and rain on my fellow Christians parades; if you enjoyed the movie thats awesome...but however inspiring or satisfying it feels (to us), the straw man eeevil bitter atheist vs. bold noble christian trope is (lazy writing *cough*) really old, and not NEARLY as prevalent in real life as we think. And it pushes away the very people were trying to reach! We dont like it when secular movies and tv shows portray Christians as stereotypically crazy or judgmental...do you think its any different for atheists when they see this stuff in OUR movies? I am just...so done with caricatures. Of ANYONE. More nuance, people. NUANCE. COMPLEXITY. TRUE-TO-LIFE CHARACTERS AND STORYLINES. NO MORE LAZY CLICHES. PLEASE. WE CAN MAKE BETTER ART AND BETTER WITNESSING EFFORTS THAN THIS. >.< /end rant
