At the end of May, five of Dylans existing famous notebooks come back to Swansea & Wales on loan from the Lockwood Memorial Library of the University of Buffalo. Here we give you an exclusive first look at one of them. Here is the cover of the Red notebook in which are crafted many of Dylans early short stories. The contents of these notebooks, written between 1930-1934 we know to be incredible but what many people dont realise is that what makes them more fascinating is that the notebooks themselves are actually the young Cwmdonkin Drive mans exercise books from Swansea Grammar School. It illustrates the link between Swansea schoolboy and writing prodigy. Dylan would later use the poems and stories contained in these notebooks for material for his first four books; 18 Poems, Twenty Five Poems, The Map of Love and Deaths and Entrances. The notebooks were all written during Dylan’s time in Swansea at 5 Cwmdonkin Drive and it is believed he filled 10 notebooks whilst growing up here in his painfully small bedroom. #DylanThomas #Dylans #5Cwmdonkin #Swansea #SwanseaBay #DT100
