At the end of September, the #andBeyond Mnemba family and guests stood by in awe as they witnessed the miracle of 104 tiny hatchlings emerging from their nest and braving their way all the way to the sea. Dive instructor, marine ranger and conservationist Chris Vibert supervised the hatching and engaged with guests, telling them all about andBeyond Mnemba Island’s turtle conservation victories. With a brilliant sunset as the backdrop, everyone cheered the little four-legged soldiers on as they marched against all odds. The last and final hatchling to emerge from the nest was the bottom egg and she was visibly much smaller than her siblings and had a deformed back-right flipper. It took her ages to traverse the long stretch of white sand, but she finally made it amidst many cheers from her captive and supportive audience. andbeyond/mnemba-island
