At the end of a long day birding around Slaughter Beach for the Milford CBC we found this handsome bird perched on a rough at the south end of Slaughter Beach. Other good birds seen in our part of the count circle (east of route 1 between the Mispillion River and Slaughter Beach Road) included flyover Rosss Goose, first winter Iceland Gull and Western Sandpiper at Mispillion Inlet, Clapper Rail and Short-eared Owl along Lighthouse Road, 2 Virginia Rails, Fox Sparrow, 2 Pine Siskins and 2 Rusty Blackbirds. We ended the day with 84 species.
