At the farewell dinner last night, U.S Ambassador Morningstar recognized a person, in the transferring out group, born in the former Soviet Unions satellite state, who met an American Peace Corps volunteer while serving in her country. They later married and she emigrated to the US. Became a US citizen and now she will be starting her training as a United States diplomat. What a wonderful story--the very essence of what America is all about. A country which truly allows the freedom of opportunity. I reflected on my decision to make America my home, the reasons that led to this move and how blessed I feel knowing that it was the right decision for me. I came to the US as a student many moons ago with big dreams. I am grateful to God Almighty for all that He bestows on me. To be an American is simply a state of mind! My fondest dreams became a reality, although I must say that my current assignment serving my country overseas was something that I could never even envisage. For me this is truly an honor to serve under a beautiful flag.
