At the grocery store this afternoon, I was accosted by a very rude and pushy man trying to sell me a subscription to the Sun-Times (local paper). I told him no, I dont read the paper. He tried to sell me on couponing and I told him I have couponed extensively in the past, I am not right now, and I would subscribe in the future if I needed to. He proceeded to get very argumentative with me and tried to shove an article about a coupon queen in my face. I interrupted him and said I just told you, I have couponed before, I understand the benefits… and he interrupted ME and said I AM JUST TRYING TO TEACH YOU FOR THE FUTURE. Did you know that 99% of Americans arent saving enough for retirement? I AM GOING TO BE A MILLIONAIRE SOON. and he went on and on about the hundreds of dollars I should be saving and investing by couponing (WARREN BUFFETT USES COUPONS!). He was not even overly nice or excited, he was just incredibly pushy and rude. He refused to let me get a word in edgewise, refused to listen to no, and the only reason I stood there so long is because I got pissed and kind of wanted to tell him off. He wouldnt shut up and eventually I just told him I told you I wasnt interested and walked away while he was talking. I wouldnt have bought the paper from him even if I was in the market. When we were leaving the store, we heard him doing the exact same thing to another lady, who was also trying to walk away. Really shitty sales techniques.
