At the launch of Melanomatas, Tasmania’s first non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting those affected by melanoma, founded by Di Mason who lost her mother to this disease. A pertinent cause for me personally as I have repeatedly had my own brush with skin cancer. We heard from nurse and grandfather Ken Harriss who has terminal melanoma. Ken’s frank but witty speech about his prognosis was incredibly moving. He says even though melanoma will claim his life, he hopes sharing his experience will spare others from becoming a skin cancer death statistic.
