At the meeting with our next Vice President yesterday, I learnt - TopicsExpress

At the meeting with our next Vice President yesterday, I learnt something: I learnt that a clique of politicians more determined and passionate about the welfare of the Nigerian is on the way to reform the system, and revive our institutional and cultural discipline. I dont see them as extraordinary at all. Theres nothing extraordinary about Buhari, Osinbajo, El-Rufai, Fashola, Rochas and their political partners. They do not have two heads, not even bigger sizes of brains. What they do have is the CHALLENGE to do BETTER than the current disaster we call a government, because theyve seen the limit of our patience. Some of their policies, foreseeably, may not be implementable, and, even if they are, not sustainable. But, I testify that theirs cant be worse than this most irresponsible government ever documented by our dispassionate Historians. We the people exist to make the government responsible by allying against its unpopular policies and decisions; Nigeria gets to this pitiable level of deterioration simply because some of see standing up to question maladministration as the duty of a select few, those we, often derisively, refer to as activists! No, YOU are an activist; every citizen or subject of a misgoverned country is an activist. As observed in an old commentary on civic responsibilities: activism is not a profession, its an instinctual response to a failed system!
