At the official opening of the DHR WIA 2013 Summer Youth - TopicsExpress

At the official opening of the DHR WIA 2013 Summer Youth Employment Program earlier today; Lt. Governor Lemanu P. Mauga reminded the selected youths of taking full advantage of the opportunity to define what they want for their future careers and was advised not to be afraid to ask questions as they play a vital role as the future investment for the government of American Samoa. Lt. Gov. also advised the agencies directors and businesses’ GMs that the youths are not there to fix them their coffee and do copies or become their personal mail deliverers but they are to help them; teach them and be mentor to inspire and give them hope for the future. Father Kolio Etuale closed the official ceremony by sharing a story of a father and son. Dad was not so happy with his son after repeatedly telling him to cut his long hair. One evening close to the son’s graduation; he went and asked: Son: Dad e mafai ga ou alu i lau ka’avale? Dad: E leai; ou ke le o fiafia ia oe i lou le usika’i e oki lou ulu. Son: Ae dad, e u’umi fo’i le ulu o Iesu Dad: makua e poko kele..ae ke iloaiga ga savali fo’i Iesu e fai laga kalaiga? Having heard and laughed along with the entertained crowd this morning, I am convinced that knowledge attained through academic education is nothing compared to wisdom gained through life experiences. Had a great time afterwards with my bro. Iosia adding our own advises to our very own SYEP participants.. GOOD LUCK Austin S. Esera & Julia Ulufale!
