At the preschool I dont see extreme right-wingers or big government liberals or treat kids differently because they are black, white, Asian, boys, girls, I dont really see any groups at all. I see beautiful, individual children. They all have needs for attention, power, safety, nourishment, and many more. I do my best to provide an environment where they can safely explore this world. After all, they just got here a few years ago, and this is a strange, fascinating, and challenging place. I feel that its important to see past the labels. A label does nothing more than obscure the understanding of an individual and replace them with a stereotype. Humans have always rushed to catogorize, classify, and define the existence of everything around us. Thats how we even came up with the concept of race in the first place. Instead of constantly seeking to define others, I feel that we should give the needed emotional space to allow each individual to define themselves. The right to self definition. #thoughtoftheday
