At the request of Franks parents, Rachel and Trae, Im starting this page for those wishing to follow Franks journey. We will try to up date this page on what little man is facing and any progress that hes making. Frank came into this world weighing 4 lbs 7 oz, 16 inches long via emergency c-section on October 13, 2014. In June he was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (a heart defect, TOF) and thereafter he was closely monitored by a team of specialists. Periodically he also suffered from an extremely low heart rate that perplexed doctors. A few weeks ago his heart rate would sky rocket in the 200s. Little mans heart just couldnt make up its mind on what to do! Last Thursday Rachel went to a routine appointment and they were concerned enough with his continuously high heart rate to admit her in the hospital to start an iv treatment to try to bring his rate back down to where it should be. By Monday she saw her team of specialists who found fluid around Franks head, heart, lungs and abdomen. These are signs of potential heart failure and the time to act was then. Get him out! It has all been pretty much a whirl wind after that. Mom was good and stable but their little Heart Warrior was not. He scored a whopping 1 on the Apgar test (10 being the highest and best result babies can score. All babies are immediately assessed using the apgar test, I think.) Heres where things get a little sketchy because of random updates here and there but Ill do my best with what I think I know. I hope I get the facts straight. And in no particular order, here we go: - he is very anemic -he had already lost blood and needed a blood transfusion right off the bat in the OR -he has since then had several blood transfusions -blood loss source: unknown -his heart is enlarged -hes breathing on a ventilator -his tiny body is swollen -there is still fluid around his head, heart, lungs and abdomen. -There has been no single one diagnosis, Frank is suffering from multiple problems -there is currently no known source of the problems -the medical staff has him on several meds and he is currently more stable now than he was just 40 hours ago.
