At the request of a student, and after having discovered that I have them in my archives, I am posting more student videos concerning SBG. Here is Hunter Roark, Streamwood High School Senior, at the September 29, 2014 U-46 School Board Meeting. “It’s come to my attention that a large portion of the student body, not just at Streamwood High School, but district-wide, has a lot of concerns in relation to the new system, not necessarily the theories behind it and what it promises us but the way it was implemented. To be specific…I have received the signatures of 200 students at Streamwood High School alone who share these concerns…we don’t understand the two choices of grading systems …the “shallow end” and the “deep end”…makes it harder to determine what we need to do to receive the grades we need to receive. On top of that, students are worried about how this is going to affect our college applications. I, personally, am technically a junior graduating a year early, and this semester that I’m in right is a huge part of my college application, and if a 4 is borderline impossible for us to obtain because it requires mastery in something we haven’t been taught, that drops my GPA...” youtu.be/QZajLxzSLKM
