At the risk of having half my Facebook friends un-friend me... I need to be really honest about Badger athletics. And college athletics in general. Colleges spend millions to build and market their sports teams. The coaches of university teams, the successful teams, make more money than most college presidents They definitely make more money than the professors who are trying to give students an education so the students can then get jobs . Not only do the schools drop sickening amounts of money into supporting their athletics but they rake in MILLIONS from the fans and from licensing team merchandise. Where does that money go!? What is the point!? Sports are fun. Sure they are. But when I think about students going $30,000 $50,000, $100,000 in debt to earn a degree and then I think about all of the money involved with college sports, I have a really hard time with that. A REALLY hard time. In my opinion, every nickel of that money should go toward defraying expenses for students trying to get an education. And as far as the college coaches are concerned, when you look at what a high school coach lives on, or a teacher, or the grossly underpaid adjunct faculty members that more and more colleges hire so they dont have to pay livable wages, there is something VERY wrong with this picture . Do your research on this. The numbers will absolutely appall you. Then you can unfriend me.
