At the risk of loosing half my friends, I feel strongly that for me the greatest people of the 20th century are Eleanor Roosevelt and Sir Winston Churchill. These leaders understood the Culture of Encounter and the belief in THE COMMON CAUSE. Politically, I am indeed a conservative, but I am a humanitarian who has a sense of what Eleanor Roosevelt and Winston Churchill were all about. My father and mother were conservative deep in their bones, but both parents admired Eleanor Roosevelt; my father sent me a letter about Eleanor Roosevelts being selected US Ambassador to the United Nations --and he was thrilled. These great people had huge huge huge impact on the direction the world would go. If it had not been for ER and WC, the Western World……… I feel them deep in my heart.
