At the risk of starting a public argument, something occurred to - TopicsExpress

At the risk of starting a public argument, something occurred to me this morning while speaking to one of my closest friends. When I hear Christians argue against regulations to benefit the poor -- food stamps, healthcare, tax cuts, increasing minimum wage, etc. -- a common argument seems to be that helping the poor should be left up to the individual, that God certainly wants us to clothe the naked, heal the sick, feed the hungry, etc., but he does NOT want us to put rules in place that "force" everyone to do it. But when discussing other issues important to Christians, issues like gay marriage, for example, putting laws in place to force a belief-based behavior on the whole of society is okay. Is it just me?
