At the time the photograph was taken, this small wooden structure was the oldest residence in Rochesters 19th Ward. Located at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Bartlett Street, it was sold in February, 1922, to John E. Merchant. The seller was Mrs. Frank P. Reed (Christine), who had resided there for 50 years. There is a utility pole in front of the house, a fence in front of the side yard, and a policeman stands in the snow on the sidewalk. Notes For another view of the same house, see Stone photograph negative #6408 (RMSC), which was printed in the Rochester Herald, February 19, 1922. This photograph was probably taken at a later date than #6408, since a utility pole has been added in front of the house, and there is a fence in front of the side yard.
