At the very outset I should say that, it was I who took initiative to bring Nachika overground. In my work, local pressmen of Laxmipur & Narayanpatna assisted me in my work. Veteran journalist Sampad Mohapatra encouraged me all along & was instrumental in progress of negotiation. I know, many people know and even police too know that NL is not a Maoist. A bonded labourer, in course of time emerged as a leader to lead goti mukti, nisha mukti & bhumi mukti movement. As Prof Gananath Patra (whom Nachika regards as as his political guru cum friend, philosopher & guide) was acquitted of all fabricated false cases created by police he (Nachika) also could face such cases & similarly he could also be acquitted. It was my contention & he was convinced to face the cases bravely in court of law. Finally he agreed to face d cases in d courts, as Prof. GP had done. After several rounds of talks with the tribal leader & his colleagues, I took up his case with Prakash Mishra, DGP, in presence of Sampad Mohapatra & also separately. We told DGP that NL was never a Maoist rather police had made him Maoist by declaring him as WANTED. He, however, agreed that he is not involved in any serious cases, even, it might not be necessary to arrest him, if he surfaced. When it was almost finalised, first of all I hinted it to Prof GP & he did not agree, rather vehemently opposed such idea. Told to Prafula Samantra about GPs opposition & he also tried to convince Prof GP. PS & GP had arguments they could not meet at any point. Prafula Samantra & Sudhir Patnaik (Samadrusti) appreciated it. Prafulaji wanted to involve veteran jounalist Rabi Das, who had visited Narayanpatna twice before to address CMAS with PS rally and once they had to return as BSFmen obstructed their entry. On 27 February 2014, I reached Narayanpatna with senior journalist Basudev Mohapatra & met Nachika & his colleagues, almost finalised program fixed March 7, 2014, on which date, he would convene a meeting of Chashi Mulia Adibasi Sangh, which was to take final decision on future course of action of their leader/ endorse, what NL wanted to do. On return, I intimated d date & venue to PS, SP, SM & also to Prakash Mishra. On request, DGP assured to be sympathetic towards Nachika & his friends, whose dignity would not at all be compromised. I also requested him to remain present in Npatna on that date. On request of Nachika the date was postponed & March 11 was fixed as they needed some more time to organise everything. It was duly intimated to all concerned including Bhalachandra Sadangi, Mahendra Parida & Shivram- all left party leaders, sympathetic to d movement.
