At the weekends as a general rule I dont write much, if anything - TopicsExpress

At the weekends as a general rule I dont write much, if anything about coins. The reason is that its good for me to think about something else, and invariably non coin posts get better figures, so presumably you like to hear about something else too. It was about 9 years ago that I realised I had something wrong in my bladder, and a few months later I was told I had cancer. Since that time ive had five operations, numerous consultations, with doctors, nurses, consultants etc, etc. Amazingly apart from the times Ive actually been in hospital (a total of about 18 days) I have never missed a day of work as a result of the cancer. This isnt because I am any sort of hero - lord no - its because the care I have been given has been absolutely first class, and I have so far been lucky that my cancer has been either very non aggressive, or aggressive, but very small. I have been seriously lucky. I am writing this because i know many of you either will have been, or will be, touched by cancer. Its one of the worlds biggest killers. I can truthfully say, it has been a good experience for me. I have had to face some of my biggest fears, I have met some incredible proffesionals who have performed, well above and beyond duty (I had a doctor once, who in her own time, went several miles out of her way to bring me some medicine at 10pm on a Sunday evening - the same doctor twice rung me in her own time to enquire how I was). I have also met some amazing patients. I met once a couple of men who were having their penis and testacles removed. These guys were the warmest, nicest people you could wish to meet. Cancer surgeries are full of people facing and conquering their own nightmares. I would not wish cancer on anybody, but I would say if you have it, potentialy it can enrich your life far more than you can imagine. For anyone currently with it - good luck and God bless.
