At this conference. The hotel staff puts out a snack of cookies, granny smith apples, red delicious apples, and bananas. Woman with thick German accent comes out of the plenary session and comes over to me, I came out here to look for the man who was going to get me an apple. Me: Theres a bowl of apples right there. Her: I know, but I only like gala apples and golden delicious apples. He promised to find me one. Oh, here he comes now.(African American hotel employee walks toward us.) Excuse me, did you find me an apple? (She is greeted with a questioning look from the hotel employee, who then points out the bowl of apples. Another African American hotel employee walks past. I should mention most of the staff is African American. We are in Atlanta.) Oh, maybe it was him. Excuse me, did you find me an apple? (She is greeted with a questioning look from the hotel employee, who then points out the bowl of apples.) She proceeds to have the exact same interaction with 4 more employees. Then grabs a granny smith apple and says to me, I dont want to miss any more of the session. If you see the guy I spoke to about my apple, please come and find me. He was a tall African American.
