At this moment in my life (The 2nd Sunday in June) a Family monument is getting ready to take place in a few hours called Odunde. This is the 2nd #Odunde festival in my life that I will not be in attendance for out of 25 years. It is the 39th year of something my Grandmother, Grandfather and Aunt created and have kept going strong! This is one of the most respected and well known festivals not only in Philadelphia, but the United States and Im always proud to say that MY FAMILY are the creators and founders of this historical monument of what Philly is made of. I remember me and Fumi Garrett anticipating the very powerful Egun procession that we would partake in Saturday evening before Odunde Sunday. Dressed in our best (custom made) traditional outfits, and walking with the ancestors & Bata Drums as we blessed the streets of our hometown SOUTH PHILLY/FITZWATER ST! Man I wish I could be there today but I know my family is going to TURN UP all day!!! Love and miss my fam & friends! Enjoy the movement my family created!
