At this time 13yrs ago I was traveling on my day off east on Rt 3 heading to Liberty state park to assist in tending to the injured being brought in from the World trade area. While nearing the Secaucus area traffic stopped and I was stuck at the side of the road watching buildings 1 and 2 burn. My phone then rang and I was ordered into work, after a short argument with a supervisor I reluctantly turned around and headed back to Passaic. While exiting the highway the 1st tower fell and I knew it was going to be a day like I had never had before in law enforcement. However, upon arriving at Passaic Police headquarters, I was assigned to the dispatch room. I was told by high ranking officer that he wanted the best he had in the right spots. Somewhat honored yet still wanting to do more, I sat in that room for the next 14hrs. I never felt more useless in my entire 25yr career....
