At tonites meeting called by MKA Chairman Miria Ikupu, he told the gathering that MKA had had a meeting today and that MKA have come up with a petition and agreed to the peoples demand of K10m compensation. He told the meeting that since Friday he has been in contact with Gov Parkop, PC Vaki and PM PON. He further went on to plead to the people to remove the road blocks so that our demands can be given favourable consideration. This didnt go down well with the crowd and cries of LASI, ROAD BLOCK NA BAINE MIA (no, road blocks will remain). To make things worse after he had addressed the gathering the meeting was then closed thereby failing to give people their democratic right under the constitution to ask or make statements. This didnt go down well with the crowd and almost everyone shouted disapproval. To make things worse a woman tried to ask a question or wanted to say something but the Chairman told her to sit down because she didnt have any brains. Again this didnt go down well with the crowd. One of the committee members from last Friday brought in a loud hailer and that was used to address the disgruntled crowd by several speakers including Kori Toua Navuru and by Lohia Boe Samuel and there were shouts of approval and agreement that the road blocks will remain and the peaceful protest march would be confirmed for Thursday. This was peoples power at its best and ENOUGH IS ENOUGH was the cry.
