At work recently, I was given the opportunity to share my experiences with a woman that had only recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. We talked and I told her about Rock the Pink and how I had learned there was so much information that still needed to be shared. She agreed and told me that as much as she thought she knew, she did not know a lump under your armpit could be an indicator of breast cancer, She knew this lump was there for 6 months before she mentioned it to her doctor at a physical. She felt fine and it was just a little bump... I want to make sure you ALL know that Sometimes a breast cancer can spread to lymph nodes under the arm or around the collar bone and cause a lump or swelling there, even before the original tumor in the breast tissue is large enough to be felt. Swollen lymph nodes should also be reported to your doctor. My thoughts will be with this young woman during her journey. Please lets take care of ourselves. Do not ignore bumps or swellings...see your doctor and get answers. Early detection saves lives! Be Well!
