At work today, I noticed 2 things.... 1 - A guy came in to have his truck checked out because his check engine light was on. I scanned it for codes and it came up with a pretty serious transmission code, one that would probably cost him a pretty penny to fix. I told him he should take it in to a mechanic or transmission shop and have it fixed. He told me he didnt want to do that and that he would just wait and drive it like normal. Then, for some strange reason...I blurted out, Well, go ahead and do that, but dont come back to me if your truck blows up with you driving it. He gave me a weird look and said, Why would you say something crazy like that???. I told him that the code wouldnt just come on, there had to be something seriously wrong, and that just driving it wasnt going to make the problem go away. There was something going on and he should probably get another opinion on it and probably get it fixed. Then, he agreed with me. AFTER I said the crazy thing about his truck blowing up. Why didnt he just listen to me when I was being sensible?? Why did it take me saying something crazy to get his attention?? I guess thats a life lesson...sometimes we have to say CRAZY things to get attention, to get people to listen to what we have to say. We have a very important thing to discuss and the only way to get people to listen sometimes is to say or do something crazy. I dont know. 2 - I saw the book The Da Vinci Code in a vehicle today at work. I have the book, I bought it a few years ago...and never touched it. Its sitting somewhere unread. Then the movie came out awhile back...and I never watched it. I remember renting it and never being able to make it passed 20 minutes or so...it just didnt do it for me. But for some strange reason seeing the book today got me to think about it, so I went on youtube and looked at the trailer for the movie and looked at some clips (CHECK THEM OUT), and it makes me want to watch it. Or better yet...makes me want to read the book. The book is usually better than the movie. So let me know if youve read it, and if youre recommending the book or the movie.
