Athletes of the week: Kailyah Burris and Christina Arce Kailyah has proven to be a leader amongst her peers since pre-season began! Always giving 100% percent at practice and always making sure she encourages her teammates. She stands out as one of the most positive members of our team! And after seeing her perform at 2 games now, we know she deserves her spot right in the center of the sideline. Coach Deb said “Kailyah shined!” at our first game. She kept the crowd engaged with her constant natural smile and strong motions/ tumbling and stunting skills that she executed well. She has also showcased elite skills through practice daily and has been eager to serve in any position! We have asked Kailyah to fly, base and back all within less than a month. She has stepped up to each position with flying colors and a desire to excel. She is willing to do whatever it takes to be a team player and that quality is one of the best an athlete can possess. We are very happy to have Kailyah as a “major player” this year. She offers elite skill, exceptional game confidence, a positive attitude and a wonderful demeanor with her teammates. She goes above and beyond what is asked of her and we admire that! Arce has secured a position on our Competitive (Red) Team for this year. Her desire to improve and excel is admirable. Since a SHU cheerleader, Arce has mastered her shotgun tuck, and has worked her way to being one of our top flyers, executing everything with great precision. She serves as a solid middle layer for pyramids as well. Arce, and her group, Jill, Christina Cass, and Vic T are ALWAYS working. There is never a dull moment in that group because once they master a skill, they move on before the coaches can even tell them too. Arce believes in her skill and ability along with that of her group and she works well with everyone on the team. She has a positive vibe and comes to practice to work-100% of the time. Her flying talent and passion puts her in the elite category when it comes to stunting. And the coaches, including our tumbling coach, PJ, believe she has the drive to be a very strong tumbler and contribute greatly in that area as well. Arce is a hard worker that we are very fortunate to have this year! We look forward to her continual improvement and know she will because of that everyday dedication. Happy to have you Arce!
