Atlanta, GA UPDATE on GORDY CALHOUN, our gorgeous, golden boy... Angels Among Us Pet Rescue recently rescued this gorgeous, golden retriever from a rural, north Georgia shelter. Once in his foster home, his observant foster mom noticed that his front legs were definitely bothering him when he tried to walk. He was limping would often take only a few steps and then lie down again. Fearing this might be an old injury left untreated, Gordy was seen by an orthopedist who diagnosed him with double ruptured wrist tendons in both front feet. OUCH!! No wonder he has trouble walking! The tendons are too delicate to be sewn back together so the only way to repair the problem is to fuse the bones to the proper position. This complex surgery will have to be done one leg at a time - meaning two separate surgeries and a total cost of about $6,000! At this point, we have only received $575 of that $6,000. We are desperate for help. Many rescues would not bear the burden of such an expensive surgery. Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is different. We often take on sick, injured, and/or neglected pets. We are committed to providing each animal that enters our program with the medical treatment available. We do it because we care deeply for these animals and know that we are often their last hope.
