Atlas was invited as a guest at MDA’s Show of Strength Telethon Premiere party in recognition of our continued support. Atlas is an active, long term supporter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), sponsoring the local North Charleston Lockup and MDA Muscle Walk. The Lockup is MDA’s premier fund raiser bringing in critical funds to help families in our community with muscle disease. One of the ways MDA helps is by sending children to camp for a week. At MDA camp, kids with neuromuscular disease discover a world created specifically for them and meet many other kids sharing the same needs and experiences. MDA is the world’s leading nonprofit health organization sponsoring research seeking the causes of and effective treatments for neuromuscular diseases. MDA research grants currently support more than 250 projects worldwide. For more than 60 years, MDA has provided help and hope for families living with neuromuscular disease. Atlas was presented an award of recognition from the MDA. Kelly Hughes accepted the award on behalf of Atlas from Coleen Harvey, MDA Executive Director, Charleston District. Kelly says she was delighted to meet and talk with several campers about their excitement over what they call “The Best Week of the Year”. The boys said they really enjoyed their kayaking adventures. It is rewarding to be able to help these wonderful children and their families and to see how MDA is using our donations to actively enrich their lives.
