Atlético Madrid to make January move for Zakaria Bakkali by Tom Conn | Posted on Monday, November 24th, 2014 PSV forward Zakaria Bakkali will reportedly sign for reigning La Liga champions Atletico Madrid after the 18-year-old Belgian international has been frozen out of the club after refusing to sign a contract renewal last summer. According to Belgium’s RTBF, Atletico Madrid will sign Bakkali this January after one of the most promising players in PSV has refused to sign a contract extension and subsequently “not treated the club with respect,” according to the club’s sporting director. “He has not shown respect to the club and there’ll be consequences. Selling him his January is an option.” Atletico Madrid were linked with a move for Bakkali last January and again last summer, but the club refused to sell. However, due to Bakkali’s attitude toward the club, it appears that PSV has no option but to get what they can from his transfer before he leaves for free this summer, when his contract expires. Bakkali is eager to get on with his career after a breakout 2013/14 season that saw him play 16 games with three goals while also making his international debut with Belgium against Wales in October 2013.
