Attached is a letter to Town Council from the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors and business membership who felt the need to weigh in on our Town Governance: Again, we will soon find out where Town Council stands! I hope the local business community along Coleman is paying particular attention to what the Chamber of Commerce is adamantly requesting...it may backfire in a BIG way; several people that Ive talked to are opposed of the organization weighing in on the Towns policies! There has been tremendous pressure from local businesses and organizations lobbying Council to succumb to their demands. The businesses along Coleman Blvd., who have flourished over decades from local residents patronizing their establishments, find themselves in a potential quagmire. Do they maintain loyalty to their customers who have enabled them to purchase their property along Coleman and sell their goods and services, or do the sell out to the highest bidder understanding that there are subsequent consequences for every decision and action made? Personally, it would be more prudent for the business community to rely on Council and the Townspeople to iron out the wrinkles than to stress an outward agenda which places businesses in the middle. I hope that Council soon realizes where their true strength lies. Fortunately the end is near and the writing will be on the proverbial wall!
