Attacks: Southern Kaduna vows to defend themselves The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union has said that the only option left for it in the wake of the series of killings that took place in the region, was to protect it members and their land against future attack in the state at all cost. President of the Union, Dr. Ephraim Goje, while addressing a news conference in Kaduna, said they were tired of watching their people slaughtered like chickens without any provocations. He said more than 40 of the communities in the Southern Kaduna have so far been attacked since 2011. Goje said, “Whatever it will take to protect the lives and property of our people, we are prepared to do so. “This thing has been lingering for so long and all efforts by government seems not to be yielding any meaningful results, and there is no sign that it will come to an end.” He said the recent attack was led by two well known Fulanis resident in Manchok town noting that the attack has clearly vindicated the Southern Kaduna people and confirmed the earlier position that the “Fulanis have declared a jihad on the people of Southern Kaduna, and indeed, Nigeria.” The SOKAPU president called on the state Commissioner of Police, General Officer Commanding, One Mechanised Division of the Nigerian Army and the Director of SSS to temporary relocate their offices to Kaura and work with their counterparts in Plateau State to comb the forest and bring the perpetrators to book. He said, “We are asking Government to urgently consider our request for the sighting of a Military Barracks within the radius of 25 kilometres of Kafanchan Town so that they can quickly respond to all issues concerning security challenges in that area.”
