Attendance Policy RATIONALE Attendance at school may be considered as two distinct issues – one for those students who are under compulsion to attend and the other for those students for whom the age of compulsion is past. Students under compulsion are bound by the parts of the appropriate Regulations of the Education Act 1972 (Updated 2009) to attend school until the age of 16 years. GUIDELINES 1. Students are expected to attend school every day for which the school is open for instruction, except if the student is ill, when a parent/caregiver is required to notify the school (phone, e-mail or diary). 2. Students are expected to attend each of their scheduled lessons when at school. 3. Students arriving after late for school (after 9:00am) should report to The Principal. 4. Students leaving before 3:15pm should have written permission from their caregiver and countersigned by a member of Administration. 5. Students are not able to leave the school grounds between 9:00am and 3:10pm unless on an approved school excursion. 6. Students missing a full school day or any part of the school day shall be required to present a note from their parents/guardians upon returning to school.
