Attended a wedding this afternoon. Instead of a unity candle or unity sand, they had planted a tree and grafted another tree with it. Their moms came up and poured dirt from where the bride and groom had each grown up into the pot. The bride and groom then watered the tree together holding a watering can. Wonderful symbolism and paired with Psalm 1:3. On a side note, the ushers at the wedding were army reservists wearing their army blues - something my son will soon be wearing. Coming way too soon.
