Attending the Russia is a marginal power debate last night once again reminded me why I love NYC. Ian Bremmer was so impressive. Sharp and witty (learned that among many other things he is also a faculty at NYU), Edward Lucas (editor at Economist) was weak and came across as naive in my opinion. The former ambassador Blackwell was very impressive with his pragmatic, down to the point, and no nonsense views. I wish I could understand Peter Hitchens better but from what I could make out from his British rumbling was very impressive. Loved his sober outlook. Yes the against the motion team (Blackwill and Hitchens) swayed the most views and won the debate and no, my opinion was not changed although Bremmer showed me some other interesting angles.
