Attention Austin friends!! .. Well Im turning 30 on Valentines day and Im wondering if any of you would care to be apart of a little tradition I started a few birthdays back. Valentines Day has become a thorn in many a side. People look at it as a day to celebrate with their intimate loved ones, and for those who may not have one at the moment, it ends up being a reminder of how alone you may or may not feel. I want to change how people see Valentines Day. Instead of this being a day to wallow in your own self loathing or show love for a single person, I want to see this day turned into a celebration of love among all people. If we are to celebrate human love and compassion then why not bring everyone into the fold so to speak? Valentines Day should be a day to push the parameters of your heart outside of its comfort zone and allow yourself to love total strangers and bring love to those who feel as they have none to offer or except. So..if you would like to join me this year Ill be making some form of soup or really good chili to dish out to those souls at our intersections and stuck outside of a long food line at a shelter. Celebrate real love this year with soup, smiles, and hugs to those that feel forgotten. Trust me its impossible to judge yourself and lack of love when youre hugging strangers and seeing their eyes light up that someone thought of them. Let me know if youre interested. Lets change the nature of this gift card holiday into one of unending love for people, and especially for those who feel there is no love at all!
