Attention MSWs on the job market! Meeting Street has an opening for a clinician. Read on for more information: Job Notice: Early Childhood Mental Health Clinician (Bilingual) I. MAIN PURPOSE To provide mental health activities for pregnant women and children ages birth to six and their families which assist and enable a child and family to receive the rights, procedural safeguards and services authorized under federal, state and local early childhood programs. II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS o Provide delivery of early childhood mental health services (including parent education, advocacy and support groups) within the agency and at all partner agencies and home visits that is in compliance with all applicable federal, state and agency policies, procedures and regulations. o Provide timely evaluation and intervention of children for whom there are behavioral and/or social-emotional concerns, and provide resources responsive to families’ identified needs and/or interests in a timely manner. o Integrate the parents/guardian/families in the early childhood mental health services program; work collaboratively with parents by soliciting parental information, observations and concerns about their child’s mental health. o Share observations of their child and discuss/anticipate with parents their child’s behavior and development (including separation and attachment issues). o Provide information to parents regarding appropriate responses to their child and how to strengthen nurturing, supportive environments and relationships in the home. o Help parents to better understand mental health issues and support parents’ participation in any needed mental health interventions. o Work with program staff and parents to design and implement program practices responsive to identified behavioral and mental health concerns of an individual child or group of children. o Provide staff education on mental health issues. o Assist in planning an annual training program for early childhood mental health providers. o Assist in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, annual budgets, and marketing plans related to Early Childhood Mental Health and Family Services. o Attend staff meetings to insure excellent communication among all program staff and high quality mental health outcomes for children and families. o Assist in the design and implementation of an outcomes measurement process to track and measure the success and effectiveness of all early childhood mental health services and activities. o Participate on internal and external committees and ad hoc task groups as directed. o Other duties as assigned. III. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS o Participate in program affiliations with local colleges and universities. o Participate in the preparation for accreditations and reaccreditations. o Participate in agency social activities. o Assist in the evacuation of babies, children and clients during fire drills or other emergencies. IV. QUALIFICATIONS A. SKILLS Knowledge and skill in early childhood mental health and early childhood development. Ability to establish supportive, trusting relationships with young children and their caregivers. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Capacity to work independently in families’ homes, the community, and in classrooms. Respect for cultural, ethnic and linguistic diversity. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and community providers. Ability to use reflection to examine clinical work with young children and families. Good organizational and time management skills. CPR and first aid certifications. B. PROFESSIONAL AND LEGAL STANDARDS Rhode Island licensure in social work or other professional discipline if applicable Licensed Mental Health Clinician; LICSW preferred Use and disclose PHI only as authorized and necessary to carry out job duties. Complete agency privacy and security training. Report suspected violations including those of colleagues. C. EXPERIENCE One to Two year experience in early childhood setting required. D. TRAINING AND EDUCATION Master’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field required meetingstreet.org/
