Thanks! ---- The Office of Civic Engagement and Social Justice (Lang CESJ) is situated within the Dean’s Office at Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts and is dedicated to promoting, supporting and implementing purposeful community-based teaching, learning and engagement within a social justice framework at Lang, The New School and beyond. We facilitate the ways in which students and faculty can integrate ethical community engagement and social justice activism both inside and outside of the classroom. We invite our alumni and community partners to share needs that the college/university can support through our courses, collaborations and programs. Civic engagement and social justice are not only legacies of our namesake Eugene M. Lang, but also ongoing practices within the teaching, learning and scholarship at our college. Lang CESJ seeks a Graduate Assistant (GA) to provide administrative support for the office and its programs. The GA helps organize the Project Pericles 2015 D4D National Conference and provides administrative assistance to office staff for Lang CESJs Signature Programs (Alternative Spring Break, CESJ Mini-Grants, Social Change Thursdays and the Summer Student Fellowship Program) and the Gural Scholars Program. Lang CESJ is strongly committed to diversity in the workplace and particularly seeks applications from members of underrepresented groups. Job Duties: -Administrative and logistical support for D4D Conference to be held at TNS on 3/19 and 3/20 (applicants must be available on those dates for the conference) -Gmail calendar scheduling -Document creation and maintenance -Monthly reconciliation and processing of university credit card -Email communication with students, faculty and staff -Internet research and special projects -Other duties as assigned Qualifications: -Graduate student at TNS -Interest and/or demonstrated experience in civic engagement and social justice -Flexibility and sense of humor Preferred Qualifications: -Proficient/familiarity with Gmail/Google Docs, Microsoft Office, Facebook, Dropbox, R25 -Previous office administrative experience Details: -10-15 hours per week at $13.00/hr -Supervisor: Judy Pryor-Ramirez, Lang CESJ Director -Start date: ASAP To Apply: Send your CV/resume and one-page cover letter to Judy at [email protected].
